Sharing Faith: A Comprehensive Approach to Religious Education and Pastoral Ministry, the Way of Shared Praxis.

The title and subtitles of Thomas H. Groome's latest tome are almost as big as the book itself. Sharing Faith: A Comprehensive Approach to Religious Education and Pastoral Ministry, the Way of Shared Praxis (HarperSanFrancisco, 569 pages, $29.95 paperback).

Groome is convinced that the learning outcome of religious education should be more than knowledge, engaging both heads and hearts. He asserts that all ministry has an educational dimension, and that an educational style can be an apt approach to ministry.

He sets out to portray Christian praxis as a "meta-approach" to education in Christian faith and pastoral ministry. He presumes that readers have some background in philosophy.

Groome's vision of religious education is instructive, and his work is sure to be a point of departure in many classrooms for a long while.
