Shamed Deayton won't be axed by the Beeb.
SHAMED TV star Angus Deayton will not face disciplinary action over claims he took cocaine, the BBC announced yesterday.
Bosses at the corporation have grilled the Have I Got News For You presenter after prostitute Caroline Martin said she saw him snort the drug through a pounds 20 note.
Senior Tory MPs called for an internal investigation into the drug claims, which Deayton has yet to deny, but sources at the BBC last night suggested that the 45-year-old is off the hook.
A Beeb spokesman said: "If anyone has committed an illegal act, we would look at very carefully. Angus Deayton has not admitted carrying out any illegal acts."
Deayton's let-off comes three years after Blue Peter presenter Richard Bacon was sacked for taking cocaine.
However, the spokesman claimed that was a different situation and added: "Richard was a children's TV presenter, which put everything in a different light. He did actually admit to taking an illegal drug."
Meanwhile, Deayton's long-term partner has broken her silence about his romps with the blonde call girl.
Distraught Lise Mayer said the father of her one-year-old son had been a "complete idiot" but she was standing by him.
Mayer said: "I am not grieving. I am angry, hurt and shocked, but I still have the things that are important and a lot of hope."
