Shakil, Sharmin steal the show.

Shakil Ahmed and Sharmin Akhter Ratna emerged as the champions in the air pistol event of the ninth edition of the National Airgun Championship. Commonwealth Games silver medalist Shakil, representing Army Shooting Association, clinched the gold medal with a score of 236.1, while Narayanganj Rifle Club's Nur Hossain and Shakil's club mate Abdur Razzak bagged silver and bronze with scores of 226.2 and 205.8 respectively. South Asian Games gold medallist Sharmin Akter Ratna staged a brilliant return after four years by regaining the gold medal for the 10m rifle event scoring 242.8 points while veteran Suriya Akter won the silver medal with a score of 241.2 points. Sharmin Akter Jr had to be content with a bronze medal with a score of 219.9 points. 'It was my sixth overall gold medal in the airgun championships where I last bagged gold in 2014.

As I have not been in the national camp, I just prepared for 10 days,' said Ratna, who is however not expecting a call up to the national team. In the women's 10m air pistol event, Ardina Ferdous won gold with a score of 239.3 points while Armin Asha and Jannatul Ferdous scored 225 and 203.2 points respectively. South Asian Games gold medalist Ratna, featuring for Dhaka Rifle Club, earned gold with a score of 242.8. Meanwhile, ASA made a clean sweep in the air pistol event's junior men's category. Shariful Islam, Sheikh Shahjalal Sadman and Rahim Mia won gold, silver and bronze with scores of 228.6, 226.2 and 202.9 respectively. Secretary of National Sports Council Md Masum Karim was the chief guest at the day's closing function and later he distributed the prizes among the winners. General Secretary of Bangladesh Shooting Sport Federation (BSSF) M Enthekhabul Hamid was also present at the function. Four events of the Suzuki 9th National Airgun Championship were decided at the National Shooting Complex in Gulshan on Thursday. Results of the day's events: Air Rifle (Women): 1st -Sharmin Akter Ratna of Dhaka Rifle Club (score 242.8); 2nd - Suraiya Akter of Narayanganj Rifle Club (score 241.2); 3rd -Sharmin Akter of Narayanganj Rifle Club (score 219.9) Air Pistol (Women): 1st - Ardian Ferdousi Akhi of Kushtia Rifle Club (score 225.8); 2nd -Armin Asha of Navy Shooting Club (score 225.0), 3rd -Jannatul Ferdousi Bonna of Army Shooting Association (score 203.2) Air Pistol (Women's Junior): 1st -Nilufar Yeasmin of BKSP Shooting Club (score 230.1); 2nd -Aljela Amjad Antu of Army Shooting Association (score 219.8); 3rd -Turing Dewan of BKSP Shooting Club (score 200.6) Air Rifle (Women's Junior): 1st -Kamrun Nahar Koli of Narayanganj Rifle Club (score 239.3), 2nd - Mayeda Momo Tahina of Army Shooting Club (score 239.1); 3rd - Farbin Chawdhury Ritika of Kushtia Rifle Club (score 218.1)
