Shah Ghulam Qadir; Sardar Farooq Tahir elected as Speaker, Deputy Speaker of AJK LA.

Muzaffarabad -- Distinguished Kashmiri politician and Central Secretary General of PML (N) AJK, Shah Ghulam Qadir was Saturday elected as Speaker of AJK Legislative Assembly for next five-year constitutional term.

According to press release, similarly Sardar Farooq Ahmed Tahir elected as Deputy Speaker of the AJK LA.

The election to the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the newly-elected AJK Legislative Assembly in a special session of the house which met in Muzaffarabad on Saturday with the outgoing Speaker Sardar Ghulam Sadiq Khan in the chair.

Shah Ghulam Qadir bagged 39 votes against only three votes secured by Malik Mohammad Nawaz, the candidate of Muslim Conference and Aamir Abdul Ghaffar Lone of Pakistan Peoples' Party AJK who got four votes.

Later Shah Ghulam Qadir took the oath as 12th Speaker of the AJK Legislative Assembly. The outgoing Speaker Sardar Ghulam Sadiq Khan administered oath to the newly-elected Speaker.

The newly-elected Deputy Speaker of the AJK LA Sardar Farooq Ahmed Tahir also took the oath of his office. Newly-elected Speaker Sah Ghulam Qadir administered oath to the Deputy Speaker.

The newly-elected members of the AJK Legislative Assembly from both treasury and opposition benches felicitated the newly Speaker Shah Ghulam Qadir and Deputy Speaker Sardar Farooq Tahir for assuming their respective offices.

Ghulam Qadir expressed his profound gratitude to the members of AJK Legislative Assembly for electing him as Speaker of the newly-elected Azad Jammu Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

Qadir said that he will run the house with the cooperation and assistance of all the assembly members. He said that all members of the assembly are equally respectable for him. He said that all rules and regulations would be followed for the better functioning of the newly-elected government.

It may be added that Shah Ghulam Qadir had been holding the office of Speaker of AJK Legislative Assembly during a past regime.
