Shadow for the Princess.

THIS rare shot of a young Princess Elizabeth being shadowed by police bodyguard Alexander Usher is one of more than 200 images of the minder going under the hammer.

The loyal Scotland Yard inspector trailed the future queen from 1944, when she was 18, until 1951. By then she had married Prince Philip and he even went on their honeymoon.

Mr Usher can also be seen acting as her doorman and bagman in the shots. They are going on sale along with other items at auctioneers Adam Partridge of Macclesfield, Cheshire, on June 30. He said: "A lot of the photos show the Inspector by the Queen's side. He seems to always be there."

Also included in the sale are Christmas cards signed by the royals, a coronation medal and cigarette case with the Queen's autograph.
