Seymour fire 10 past Harcourt; LIVERPOOL &DISTRICT LEAGUE.
JUST three matches weathered the storm in the First Division of the Liverpool and District Sunday league last weekend but they still showed a healthy return of 25 goals.
Seymour KCFC hammered Harcourt 10-0 in a match which epitomised what amateur football is all about. Although goals from Roberts (2), Smith (2), Mike Lundon (2), Parry, Welsh Rogan and James Lundon consigned the away side to a heavy defeat the Harcourt manager, who cut a lonely figure on the line, still kept up the fight and played the game out until the bitter end. Famous Grapes scored six without reply against Old Albion after Fearns (2), Whittick, Harkin, Hughes and Hyland were on target and Allerton finished off the three-way goal-fest with a 9-0 result over Oaks Athletic thanks to efforts from Ryan (3), Mee (2), Parle (2) and Putterill.
An almost full fixture list in the Premier Division had Pineapple keep hold of the top spot when Kelly and Wose helped them to a 2-0 win against The Paddock while Oyster Martyrs kept up in second spot when goals from McGivern (2) and Rooney saw them take a 3-2 win over Eagle Cons who replied via Mahoney and Boardman.
Tames, O Brien and Riley netted in Canada''s 3-2 verdict at Garston and Sandstone edged a 2-1 win over Derby Lane Gym courtesy of goals from Grant and Morgan.
Finally Western Approaches moved up the table in a 3-2 triumph at Britannia VNC thanks to goals from Richards, Williams and Flynn.
