Several arrested for profiteering, unhygienic conditions.

PESHAWAR -- District administration arrested several persons for crackdown against profiteering and poor cleanliness conditions in restaurants.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Peshawar was receiving complaints regarding overcharging by shopkeepers, particularly at night. Furthermore, there were also complaints regarding underweight roti.

Taking notice of the complaints, the Deputy Commissioner directed action and in this connection, Assistant Commissioner (AC), Altaf Sheikh along with Additional Assistant Commissioner (AAC), Imran Khan and Assistant Director, Consumers' Association, Said Badshah inspected different fast-foods, restaurants and other shops and took several persons into custody for profiteering, unhygienic conditions and selling of underweight roti. A manager of a fast-food outlet was arrested after sealing his shops for unhygienic conditions.

On this occasion, the Assistant Commissioner, Altaf Sheikh warned the owners of all restaurants and others for adhering to hygienic principles, otherwise stern action would be taken against them.
