Settlement Helps Delphi Sharpen Its Focus.

Delphi Financial Group Inc. is looking to grow internally by concentrating on integrated disability and absence management, said Robert Smith, executive vice president of Delphi Financial.

"There's nothing that we feel we're missing," Smith said. "We're not really aggressively looking to grow through acquisitions."

In February Delphi posted a 19% drop in fourth-quarter net income, citing a settlement over a workers' compensation reinsurance contract it had with Reliance Insurance Co. The settlement released Delphi from liability in connection with its former ownership of Unicover Managers Inc.
