Serve up a fresh dish.

BUDDING young chefs are being asked to show their skills by inventing recipes.

Cafe Azure, Cramlington, has launched a competition to get youngsters to create a dish which can go on the menu.

Azure Charitable Enterprises, which provides services for people with disabilities, contacted schools to ask their pupils to submit a recipe for a main course or sweet which should be reasonably priced and have locally-sourced ingredients.

The winning recipe will not only appear on Cafe Azure's daily menu but the school and winning pupil will also get a range of prizes.

Peter Elliott, of Azure Charitable Enterprises, said: "This is a great opportunity for schools to become involved with Cafe Azure.

"We see ourselves as a community resource and the competition is a great way for young people to become involved with what we do."
