Serve against the stars.

SICK and tired of your traditional tennis games? Ever felt the need to throw bananas at your opponent while side-spinning the ball across court? Probably not, but with Sega's new offering you can do just that as you help Sonic and co perfect their smashes. There is a spooky Virtua Tennis feel to this arcadey title that rolls out Sega's bedraggled superstars such as Sonic and Ulala from Space Channel 5, which makes playing the game a surreal experience. While there have been some super-shots added to gameplay, the rules of tennis haven't been twisted sufficiently enough to refresh the sport in line with the crazy characters that are now on court. There are some interesting mini-games that unlock some of Sega's older characters, such as the dwarf from Golden Axe, but there is still not much on offer. That said, Virtua Tennis is a cracking game, and Superstar Tennis benefits from the advantages of similar game mechanics. No where near an ace, but worth dusting off your racket if you're a big tennis fan.
