Series of nostalgic one-woman shows.

PREVIEW Call Me Merman/ Turn Back the Clock/ Betrayal ROYAL SPA CENTRE, LEAMINGTON SPA THE lives of two funny women from the '30s and '40s are celebrated in nostalgic one-woman shows at the Royal Spa Centre, Leamington.

Hidden Pearl Productions' Turn Back the Clock is a quirky, comic revue featuring some of the more delicate and poignant songs and monologues of the 1940s English actress and comedienne Joyce Grenfall - one of the great female entertainers of the 20th century.

The two-hour show, skillfully adapted and starring actress Cheryl Knight, has been playing to sell-out houses for the last 18 months. It is suitable for all ages and will be performed on Friday at 7.45pm.

And in Call Me Merman, Olivier Award-nominated West End star Rosemary Ashe pays tribute to Ethel Merman, the legendary first lady of comedy on Broadway in the 1930s on Saturday.

She re-visits all of the Broadway star's biggest shows from the Gershwins' Girl Crazy in 1931, which made her a star overnight, through to Styne and Sondheim's Gypsy in Rosie Belting.

Rosemary has performed in Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables and Mary Poppins. Both shows have been directed by Paul Knight.

A revival of one of Harold Pinter's best regarded plays, Betrayal, is also coming to the venue for two nights on October 4 and 5. Performed by London Classic Theatre, it tells the story of an affair between a woman and her husband's best friend.

Betrayal begins after the end of the affair, and goes back in time to the beginning. A ruthless exploration of the complexity of the human heart.
