A SUSPECTED serial killer pointed police looking for a missing woman to a cooler box in his flat.

Police went on to find eight more bodies and say Takihiro Shiraishi, 27, has confessed to killing and dismembering them.

Officers went to his studio flat in Zama, southwest of Tokyo, looking for a 23-yearold who vanished after allegedly exchanging Twitter messages with him.

His first victim is said to have been a woman who he offered to help commit suicide. Her boyfriend - the only man among the victims - was killed to silence him.

Japanese media quoted his neighbours as saying they had noticed foul smells coming from the flat.

Shiraishi threw out some of the body parts as rubbish, along with the victims' belongings, reports said.
