Serena rejects Oz Open 'favourite' tag.

London, Jan 14( ANI ): Serena Williams has claimed she doesn't think she is the favourite to win the ongoing Australian Open, adding every player will have to work equally hard to lift year's first Grand Slam.

Serena refused to agree with the broad consensus that, as other contenders struggle and her own game hits a ruthless peak, she is widely favoured to win her sixth Australian title, the Guardian reports.

The current Wimbledon and US Open champion said just like every other rival, she would also have to win seven straight matches to be crowned as the Oz Open winner, adding every player has equal opportunity to do so.

A poll of the field would return a near-unanimous verdict that the Williams sister players want to avoid is the fourth seed Serena, not 24th-ranked Venus. ( ANI )
