Serena delivers new release of APP performance monitor.

SERENA Software, Inc. (Nasdaq:SRNA), a supplier of software that automates change to enterprise code and content, has announced the general availability of Serena StarTool APM 3.2, the latest version of the company's Application Performance Manager.

The new release provides several feature and functionality enhancements that boost productivity and improve application performance throughout development and production environments. Support for CICS transaction monitoring, native PL/I compiler language, and increased concurrency are delivered in this release. With these latest enhancements, development teams are able to resolve a wider range of application performance problems more efficiently to better meet stringent business requirements.

"Now more than ever, it is imperative that companies align IT with business objectives and consistently track and evaluate the performance of applications that have significant impact on the bottom-line," said Carl Greiner, Vice President and Director of Enterprise Data Center Strategies, at META Group. "Solutions which improve application performance and response time are invaluable in helping to create a favorable impact."

Serena StarTool APM 3.2 extends its monitoring capabilities by now providing CICS transaction monitoring, allowing customers to quickly detect and resolve transaction performance problems using the CICS feature. Version 3.2 also delivers extended programming language support with support for native PL/I, providing the ability to drill down to the PL/I source code statement. Additionally, customers can now run multiple copies of Serena StarTool APM simultaneously, extending the product's ease-of-use to additional members of the development team. All of these feature and functionality enhancements increase the robustness of the product and enable customers to improve overall productivity and application performance.
