Serena, Bolt win Laureus Awards.

Summary: ABU DHABI - Usain Bolt, three-time Olympic gold medallist and the fastest man on earth lapped up the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year award for the second time at a glittering ceremony at the Emirates Palace Hotel on Wednesday.

Dubbed the aeOscars of SportAE and watched by the whoAEs who in sport and the entertainment world, the Jamaican sprinter, who holds the world record in the 100 metres, 200 metres and the 4x100 metres relay and holds an Olympic record in all three races, beat tennis world No.1 and multiple award winner Roger Federer, athlete Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia, Tour de France winner Alberto Contador, Argentine football genius Lionel Messi and MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi to win the prize.

US tennis star Serena Williams also won the Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year award for a second time. She had won the first one seven years ago. She has three awards in total, after having won the Laureus World Comeback of the Year award in 2007.

Serena beat athlete Shelly-Ann Fraser of Jamaica, swimmer Federica Pellegrini of Italy, athlete Sanya Richards of the USA, swimmer Britta Steffen of Germany and skier Lindsey Vonn of the US.

It was a double for Formula One as Briton Jenson Button and the BrawnGP Formula One team took awards on the night. Jenson Button, won the Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year, while the BrawnGP Formula One team, now the Mercedes team, won the Laureus World Team of the Year.

Belgian star Kim Clijsters, who came back to tennis after a two-year absence and won the US Open in only her third tournament after her return, won the Laureus World Comeback of the Year award.

South African swimmer Natalie du Toit won the Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year with Disability.

Laureus Academy member Nawal El Moutawakel, the first Arab woman to win an Olympic gold at the Los Angeles Olympics won the Laureus Lifetime Achievement award.

The winners were picked by 46 Academy members Giacomo Agostini, Marcus Allen, Severiano Ballesteros, Franz Beckenbauer, Boris Becker, Ian Botham, Sergey Bubka, Bobby Charlton, Sebastian Coe, Nadia Comaneci, Yaping Deng, Marcel Desailly, Kapil Dev, David Douillet, Emerson Fittipaldi, Sean Fitzpatrick, Dawn Fraser, Cathy Freeman, Tanni Grey-Thompson, Marvelous Marvin Hagler, Mika Hkkinen, Tony Hawk, Mike Horn, Miguel Indurain, Michael Johnson, Kip Keino, Franz Klammer, Dan Marino, John McEnroe, Edwin Moses (Chairman), Nawal El Moutawakel, Robby Naish, Ilie Nastase, Martina Navratilova, Alexey Nemov, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Morn du Plessis, Hugo Porta, Vivian Richards, Monica Seles, Mark Spitz, Daley Thompson, Alberto Tomba, Steve Waugh and Katarina Witt.
