29 January 2018 - Virginia, US-based professional and governmental services provider Serco Inc. has closed the acquisition of Massachusetts, US-based satellite communications (SATCOM) provider BTP Systems, LLC, to strengthen growth in federal government defence sector, the company said.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. This deal was announced last October.

The acquisition supports Serco's strategic growth plan in the defence sector by enhancing its portfolio of command, control, communications, computers, combat systems, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C5ISR) service offerings and broadening its federal government client base.

Serco said BTP Systems adds to the growing C5ISR business supporting naval modernisation and sustainment for ship, shore, and hardware integration projects.

This acquisition will provide Serco with capabilities in the engineering, overhaul, repair, and sustainment of SATCOM and radar systems that expand our scope of solutions for existing customers and brings Serco to new customers.

BTP supports major SATCOM integrators with specialised RF engineering, small lot production, and RF testing services.

Serco's expertise in systems integration and large-scale modernisation projects helps customers achieve goals for operational enhancement and timely and cost-effective completion.

The company specialises in areas including obsolescence engineering, systems engineering services, test equipment and design, and field engineering services. BTP has operations or personnel in Rhode Island, California, South Carolina, Connecticut, Virginia and Florida, US.
