Serbia : Serbia Offended by Israel's Involvement in Storm Celebration.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Aug. 8 told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a telephone conversation that Serbia was offended by the participation of Israeli Air Force aircraft and pilots in the celebration of the Croatian military and police operation Storm in Knin, but added that it was ready to strengthen bilateral ties. Vucic told Netanyahu that Serbia was ready to work on strengthening cooperation with Israel, "in the spirit of the best and firmest friendship of the Serbian and Jewish peoples," it said in a statement issued by the Serbian president's office.
"Serbia remains committed to the development of overall relations with Israel and I am pleased to point out that Belgrade recently gave a friendly welcome to President Rivlin, when a street in Belgrade was named after Theodor Herzl, the spiritual father of the state of Israel," Vucic told the Israeli prime minister.
Netanyahu accepted Vucic's invitation to visit Serbia, for the sake of continued enhancement of the political dialogue, economic cooperation and cultural ties between Serbia and Israel, whereby the two leaders would, according to the statement, also strengthen their mutual understanding and trust. The interlocutors concurred that there were great possibilities for cooperation between the two countries in agriculture and IT, given Israel's considerable experience in those areas, it also said in the statement.
