Sequent Targets ASPs.

Keeping up with the times, Sequent Computer Systems Inc is crowing about its plan to support ASP application services providers and has already signed Clarus, Great Plains and Pivotal to develop ASP services on its services.

Sequent sees the ASP opportunity as a Windows NT play and says it will leverage Microsoft's Digital Nervous System for e-commerce.

The company has been telling Wall Street that its new mid-range NUMA-Q 1000 server has made it more competitive with Sun Microsystems Inc. The NUMA-Q 1000 comes in about $15,000 less than Sun's E4500 server.
