Sept. 15--South Dumfries Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee.

* Although the Glen Morris Park public meeting had been poorly attended, staff received some completed ball park surveys. Ballantyne presented the results of the survey and a concept plan for the park. Staff reported that the majority of community feedback supported the park being repurposed. As some funds were included in the 2014 budget for this park, it was suggested that staff begin installation of the walking trail around the perimeter of the park along with some play equipment. Staff was directed to include funds in the 2015 budget to complete the park. It was suggested that the concept plan be displayed in the community and flyers be sent home through the school or afterschool program. In 1953 the park was originally named Rising Park; in an effort to preserve history, it was suggested that the name be continued.

* The next major project for St. George was a splashpad for Sunnyside Park which was included in the 2015 capital budget, but likely not installed until 2016 because of the Lions' Trillium grant application. Drainage at the outdoor rink and lighting on both ball diamonds and the soccer pitches could be possible budget items. A light pole at the Lawn Bowling Club needed to be replaced but it was a winter project, due to the location. It was noted that the tennis court had issues but no requests were made to staff by that group.
