Sensis Corp's ASDE-X technology now operational at George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

Sensis Corporation, a provider of sensors, information technology and simulation and modelling to air navigation service providers, civil aviation authorities, airports, airlines and militaries, announced on Tuesday that its Airport Surface Detection Equipment, Model X (ASDE-X) is now operational at Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

ASDE-X is a runway incursion detection and alerting system, which combines surface movement radar, multilateration and Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast (ADS-B) surveillance information to provide air traffic controllers with accurate, real-time position and identification information for all aircraft and vehicles on the airport surface. It also features advanced runway conflict detection and alerting technology called Safety Logic.

George Bush Intercontinental Airport is the 21st US airport to become operational with ASDE-X through the US Federal Aviation Administration's ASDE-X programme, which will see the technology being deployed in a total of 35 airports.
