Senior MP Dismisses Israeli Media Reports on High Alert of Iranian Armed Forces.
"Under the current circumstances we do not feel to be in a new or any specific military condition now," Chairman of the parliament's Defense Commission Gholamreza Karami told FNA on Wednesday.
He was referring to a recent report by The Daily Telegraph which cited Western intelligence officials that Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has been dispersing long-range missiles and guards units to key defensive positions.
Karami underlined the readiness of the Iranian Army and the IRGC for parrying any attacks, and said, "The everlasting preparedness of the Armed Forces is one of Iran's defensive strategies."
He meantime reiterated that Iran's long-range missiles are always ready to defend the country's soil, "but at present they (the missile units) have not been tasked with any specific mission".
Telegraph alleged in a recent report that western intelligence officials have said the IRGC is deploying artillery amid mounting international pressure and in anticipation of an imminent war.
"The Iranian Revolutionary Guard is raising its preparedness for war fearing a strike after mounting international pressure," the British newspaper reported, and added, "Western intelligence officials said that Iran was deploying artillery and guards to key defensive points, as well as arranging "long-range missiles" and "high explosives" fearing a potential attack."
