Senior Iranian MP: SnowdenaACAOs Revelations Straining US-EU Relations.

TEHRAN (FNA)- A prominent Iranian lawmaker underlined that the US allies in Europe have been disheartened by Washington's spying on them which was disclosed by former CIA employee Edward Snowden.

"US spying on its allies has resulted in its strained relations with the European Union (EU) and continuation of such moves will make this country more isolated," vice-chairman of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mansour Haqiqatpour said. The legislator noted that the US is facing many problems such as quagmires of Iraq and Afghanistan, its internal economic crisis and social abnormalities which weaken the country day by day. "The US statesmen have always portrayed their country as a heaven on Earth where there are no limitations, but following the recent revelations it became evident that the US government has spied not only on other countries, but also on its own citizens," he added. People of 20 cities across America have held protest rallies against the US government's tapping into nine US Internet companies and gathering all kinds of information from users, including videos, emails, searches and images. Snowden, 29, admitted to leaking a secret court order to the media in early June, according to which US telecom company Verizon was required to provide data from millions of customers to the US authorities for three months. He also claimed an Internet scouring program code-named PRISM allowed the NSA and the FBI to tap into nine US Internet companies and to gather all kinds of information from users, including videos, emails, searches and images. On June 14, the US authorities charged Snowden under three articles, each of them punishable with up to 10 years in prison. Two of the charges were brought under the 1917 Espionage Act. Ee Ee Ee
