Seminar on Oman and the Indian Ocean today.

Washington : Sultan Qaboos Center for Culture in Washington will organize today its annual Seminar on the Sultanate. The theme of this year Seminar is ' Oman and the Indian Ocean, interaction and exchange'. The Seminar, hosted by Chicago University of the U.S.A aims at showcasing the Sultanate as one of the countries interested in human culture and highlighting Oman's historic and cultural role in the Indian Ocean, especially the Sultanate is one of the founders of the Indian Ocean Rim Association for Regional Co-operation (IOR-ARC). The Seminar will include four sessions that will include a number of working papers by speakers from Oman, the U.S.A, Australia and Canada. The speakers will highlight Omani's history and culture and the trade, culture and thought exchange in the Indian Ocean and the role of Oman in this. Dr. Ali bin Masud al-Sunaidi, Minister of Commerce and Industry who will patronize over the opening ceremony will deliver a speech on the commercial and industrial role of the Sultanate in the Indian Ocean region. The Seminar will be attended by ministers, undersecretaries officials and academicians at Chicago University and those interested in the Indian Ocean studies.
