Semi gear forecast follows boom-bust pattern.
SAN JOSE - Worldwide sales of new semiconductor manufacturing equipment will fall this year from 201 Ts record sales, SEMI (semi.org) said. The trade group's year-end consensus forecast, released Dec. 7, predicts 4.7% growth in 2011, to $41.8 billion, followed by a drop of 10.8% in 2012, with South Korea the only region expected to see growth (7.5%). In 2013, the market is expected to rebound in all regions, except South Korea.
