Semen Andalas stops operation.

The cement factory of PT Semen Andalas di Longa, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, was heavily damaged by the earthquake triggered tsunami on Dee 26 forcing the factory which has an annual production capacity of 1.4 million tons to stop operation. The association of cement producer (ASI) said cement production this year will reach only 36 million tons or 75% of the installed capacity of 48 million tons. In the first nine months of 2004, production was only 24.3 million tons or 80% of the target figure of 29 million tons. target figure of 29 million tons. Around 31 million tons of the production will be for domestic consumption and the rest will be exported ASI said. (BI/8/01/05)
