This publication provides legal information and material for judges, parliamentarians, government officials, lawyers, civil society organizations, and teachers by serving as a reference of basic documents on international environmental law. As part of the priorities of the Environmental Law Branch Division of Policy Development and Law, the publication contains up-to-date information, including key policy documents, texts of major legal instruments, and basic texts in international law. The selected texts range in date from 1945 (Charter of the United Nations) to 2003. They consist of documents on the United Nations Environment Programme's Legislative Authority in Environmental Law, declarations and global and regional agreements, excerpts of global and regional legal instruments, and documents of the International Law Association and the International Law Commission. Year of adoption and date of entry into force are listed. There is no index.
