Select Comfort Signs Agreement With America Online; Christensen Promoted to Senior Vice President of e-commerce.
Select Comfort Corporation (Nasdaq: AIRB) and announced that it has signed an agreement with America Online, Inc. (NYSE: AOL) to make Select comfort air beds available in Shop@AOL, the world's largest online shopping destination. Select Comfort is the only major mattress manufacturer offering its products through e-commerce. The company introduced online ordering at the company's website, selectcomfort.com, on May 1.
In other company news, Renee Christensen has been promoted from vice president to senior vice president of e-commerce at Select Comfort. "We've learned that consumers are eager to purchase our air beds, pillows and other bedding accessories online," said Christensen. "We expect e-commerce to be a significant growth area for Select Comfort, and an alliance with AOL gives us a presence with the premiere online shopping destination." The e-commerce division at Select Comfort has recently added several staff members, including a director of web technology and director of channel development.
Select Comfort air beds are available at Shop@AOL, Shop@AOL.com, Shop@Netscape, and Shop@Compuserve within the Home Furnishings area of the Home & Garden department.
