air beds named in complaint

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 3, 2000

Select Comfort Corporation (NASDAQ: SCSS) announced today that a settlement has been reached in its patent infringement suit against Simmons Company, filed in Federal Court in Minneapolis on November 30,1999. Simmons, the Atlanta-based mattress manufacturer, has terminated its license agreement with its co-defendant, Price Manufacturing Inc., effectively ending its involvement with the manufacture and sale of air beds with a hand control that are the subject of Select Comfort's patent infringement suit.

&uot;We are pleased that Simmons will cease its involvement in the manufacture and sale of air beds that we believe infringe on our patents,&uot; said Mark Kimball, Select Comfort's chief administrative officer and general counsel. &uot;We will continue to vigorously protect the significant investment we have made in air bed technology.&uot;

Price Manufacturing Inc., which was also named in Select Comfort's patent infringement suit, is not part of the settlement between Select Comfort and Simmons. Select Comfort intends to continue to prosecute its patent infringement suit against Price Manufacturing.
