LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 11, 2000

Sega.com(TM), an independent online interactive entertainment company, today announced a partnership with ShopTok, a San Francisco-based application service provider, to utilize the company's leading platform of online sales and customer support applications to enable conversation driven e-commerce.

ShopTok will host the industry's first proprietary communication network application to support SegaNet(TM), the only high-speed online console gaming network and ISP.

"Online gaming is about building a strong community," said Greg Chiemingo, vice president of marketing, Sega.com. "By partnering with ShopTok, we can analyze our customers purchasing and playing patterns, and whet their appetite for more with personalized incentives, exclusive e-commerce offerings and pre-launch product information."

ShopTok's platform currently consists of four applications -- TokBoards(TM), TokAdvisor(TM), TokClubs(TM) and TokSupport(TM) -- linked to a powerful data mining engine and knowledge base that analyzes shopper conversations in real time to deliver relevant product recommendations and expert advice. As part of the agreement, Sega.com will employ the company's TokBoards application that will provide Sega(R) gaming enthusiasts with an online community forum accessible via the 128-bit, Internet-ready Sega Dreamcast(TM) console and the Internet, allowing the end user to share information, tips and feedback. Within the e-commerce realm, ShopTok will improve SegaNet's retention rates by offering a more personalized and relevant shopping experience for end users.

"ShopTok's interactive community platform will help convert Sega.com customers into product evangelists by providing them with an outlet for sharing their experience," said Melinda Cuthbert, ShopTok CEO. "Our goal is to help Sega.com establish solid retention rates by looking at each customer and identifying their personal needs and interests."

Launching on September 7, 2000, SegaNet, is the only high-speed online console gaming network, that will offer gamers 3D multi-player games, such as "Sega Sports(TM) NFL 2K1" and "Quake III Arena(TM)", chat, community, cheat codes, tournaments and content. SegaNet is also an ISP service for Sega Dreamcast and PC users, offering gamers the best in speed, consistent low latency, customer service and access to all other areas of the web, including personal e-mail (name@sega.net). Additionally, SegaNet will provide gamers content on complementary areas of interest, including music, TV, movies, sports and e-commerce.
