Video game maker Sega Corp. said Thursday it posted a consolidated net profit of 1.89 billion yen in the April-June quarter, or 25.2% of its net profit projection for the current business year through March 2004.
The profit, which translates into 12.19 yen per share, reflects the solid performance of the amusement equipment and consumer game sectors, Sega said.
For the April-June quarter, Sega also reported a group pretax profit of 2.63 billion yen on consolidated sales of 42.37 billion yen. The respective figures equal 25.0% and 22.0% of the full-year profit and sales estimates.
Sega did not provide year-to-year comparisons because it is the first time the company has reported quarterly earnings results.
For the current business year, Sega left unchanged its group earnings projection announced in May -- a net profit of 7.5 billion yen and a pretax profit of 10.5 billion yen on sales of 193 billion yen.
