SeeBeyond To Enable EDI Transactions Over The Internet (EDI-INT)

To Help Customers Achieve Full B2B Interoperability

SeeBeyond (Nasdaq:SBYN), the leading global provider of eBI solutions, today announced that the SeeBeyond eBI Suite, the most comprehensive and unified eBusiness integration infrastructure available, has been validated by the The Drummond Group for AS2 (Applicability Statement 2) compliance. AS2 specifies the means to connect, deliver, validate and reply to data in a reliable, non-reputable way. This draft standard allows vendor applications to communicate EDI data (or other data such as XML) over the Internet using HTTP in a secure manner.

"Our customers using EDI for their B2B transactions need to be able to utilize the Internet in order to cost-effectively participate in an eBusiness environment," said Richard Clements, Director of Product Marketing for SeeBeyond. "Using EDI over the Internet can decrease the cost of conducting transactions with trading partners to one-tenth of the cost of using VANs (Value Added Networks). By offering our customers a flexible EDI solution, we help improve their bottom line significantly."

Despite XML's popularity, EDI is still the incumbent among B2B protocols, accounting for the majority of business-to-business transactions. Currently, SeeBeyond is offering the most proven, flexible and complete solution available for EDI, and now as a result of AS2 compliancy provides a completely interoperable solution for EDI over the Internet. By utilizing the AS2 standard, SeeBeyond assists companies using EDI to avoid the high costs of value-added networks and grow their eBusiness initiatives effectively in a cost-efficient manner.

"By validating its products as interoperable and able to securely transport EDI and XML, SeeBeyond has contributed in an unheralded manner to the growth of electronic commerce and has helped create an industry worth hundreds of millions of dollars. The company's vision and cooperative effort has been instrumental in establishing secure and interoperable Internet commerce," said Rik Drummond, IETF Work Group Chair and Drummond Group Inc. Founder.

The long-term viability of the B2B marketplace is dependent on standards that enable interoperability between different vendors. By adopting a proven and standards-based integration solution, companies can protect their existing IT investments and continue to take advantage of emerging technologies -- while remaining focused on increasing customer satisfaction and driving competitive advantage.
