See education evolve at the 12th Annual ONS Institutes of Learning.
New this year, IOL is offering hot topics sessions featuring topics at the fore-front of day-to-practice. The hot topics sessions are paired with "meet the experts" roundtable sessions.
"This is the best IOL yet and not to be missed," says Planning Team Member Gail Kwarciany, RN, MSN, BC, OCN [R], AOCNS [R]. "The new hot topic sessions are all about practice updates, providing you with the knowledge you need in day-to-day practice."
This year's IOL tracks include clinical updates in neuroendocrine cancer, inflammatory breast cancer, patient care and administrative issues, survivorship/transitional care planning, navigation, nurse internships, and cultural competency.
When the IOL planning team met in March, the Japan nuclear crisis was evolving; in response, the group added a session addressing environmental radiation exposure. Planning Team Member Patricia Rushton, RN, PhD, AOCN [R], AOCNP [R], explains, "The speakers have first-hand experience in dealing with environmental exposure and will review the recent events to give us a better understanding of how to protect ourselves."
Opening keynote speaker Bobbie Staten, RN, CSP, will address work-life issues in a truly entertaining, uplifting manner. "Bobbie will deliver the right mix of content and humor that will resonate with us all," says Planning Team Member Pamela Elliott, RN, BSN, MHA, OCN [R].
The special closing session will be presented by Debra Boyle, RN, MSN, AOCNS [R], FAAN, and David Kissane will help attendees to gain insight into the science of evolving grief.
