Global trade and finance series; v.8
Collecting contributions from legal advisers, structurers, facilitators, and regulators participating in the global securitization markets, Robbe (structured finance counsel, FMO, the Hague, the Netherlands) and Ali (law, U. of New South Wales, Australia) present 18 papers that provide legal advisors with information on the legal structure of innovative securitizations and recent developments in the accounting and regulatory treatment of securitizations. The papers are presented in three sections that deal in turn with the securitization of derivatives, the securitization of alternative asset classes, and accountancy and regulatory aspects of securitization. Individual topics include temperature swaps and windstorm bonds, commercial mortgage backed securities in Italy, equity default swaps and the securitization of risk, trends and innovations in the US CDO (collateralized debt obligation) market, covered bonds in Europe, residential pre-sales securitization, securitization of private equity, whole business security in French civil law, and regulatory capital standards for securitization in the Basel II framework.
