Secret of escape clause; EXCLUSIVE.

Byline: Nick Dorman

ROONEY could still leave Manchester United as early as next summer after insisting on an ESCAPE CLAUSE in his new contract.

His legal team insisted on the getout which will allow him to leave if another club bids pounds 60 million for him. Experts believe Rooney could be on his way as early as next May when the summer transfer window opens.

Insiders say an early Rooney exit will benefit both the player AND the club, with Wayne pocketing a hefty signing-on fee and higher salary until he is sold - and United getting the maximum possible transfer fee when he moves. A source said: "It's definitely a case of win-win for both parties.

"It's also worth bearing in mind that Beckham and Ronaldo both signed five-year United deals and made all the right noises about staying only to leave the following summer."
