Second hand goods allowed to be imported to areas hit by natural disasters.

The government allows the imports of 190 types of second hand goods needed by disaster hit provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, Papua and East Nusatenggara. Industry Minister Andung Nitimihardja said the decision made jointly with the trade minister is aimed at facilitating rehabilitation and reconstruction of areas hit by the natural disaster ill the four provinces. Aceh and North Sumatra were devastated by earthquake triggered tsunami on Dec 26 and earlier Nabire in Papau and East Nusatenggara were hit by earthquake causing big casualties and extensive damage. The importers are companies recommended by the National Coordinating Body for Natural Disasters and Refugees. (Bl/11/01/05)
