Second Emmy Award for Red Bull Air Race.

The Red Bull Air Race World Championship recently received a prestigious Sports Emmy Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in New York, USA. The race, which was broadcast in the US on Fox Sports Network (FSN), won in the "Outstanding Technical Team Remote" category, which recognised the technical portion of sports programmes in remote venues.

The championship, which started in 2005, was also awarded an Emmy last year.

Riedel Communications said the production companies covering the broadcast of the race used Riedel's MediorNet technology.

For the past six years, Riedel has been the official global supplier of broadcast production communications for the Red Bull Air Race World Championship. Riedel's solutions are at the fore front of the event - providing the entire communications and signal distribution solutions, integrating both HD video and audio signals as well as wireless and wired digital intercom systems.

Riedel also supplies the HD cameras and RF links for the race planes' on-board cameras, enabling stunning pictures to be delivered from the pilots' perspectives.

The race coverage telecast on FSN was produced by US-based G.R.A.C.E Productions, together with Austria-based West4Media, as well as Riedel's SiVision and Sky Media.

The Sports Emmy Awards are regarded as the Oscars equivalent for the sports TV industry.
