Second Amendment March. reports that a Second Amendment March is planned for April 19 on the grounds of the Washington Monument in D.C., as well as across the nation in numerous state capitals. The mission of the march is "to galvanize the courage and resolve of Americans; to petition our elected officials against establishing anti-gun legislation; and to remind America that the Second Amendment is necessary to maintain our right to self defense." The march, which is sponsored by organizations like the United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) and the Front Sight Firearms Training Institute, will feature such speakers as Stewart Rhodes, the founder of Oath Keepers, and Congressman Paul Broun (R-Ga.).

Momentum is building for both the D.C. march and the ones being organized in various states. Skip Coryell, founder of the march, said he came up with the idea in response the startling rise in governmental power. "I saw a lot of our freedoms being stripped away. ... So I said let's band together and go ahead and start protesting and let the government know we're here and we don't want them touching the Second Amendment. ... If you look at Barack Obama, he's got the most anti-Second Amendment voting record of anyone who ever served. I just don't trust him. ... Trampling on people's rights, Republicans and Democrats both do it."
