Search goes on for angler; Capsized boat: Family say missing 23-year-old Kieran 'has a heart of gold'.

The family of a young angler missing from a boat in Argyll last night said the 23-year-old "lit up the room with his infectious smile" whose motto is: "It is what it is."

Police confirmed the identity of the man as Kieran Cowan, from East Lothian.

Searches for Mr Cowan, who has been missing since the boat he was in capsized on Loch Awe on Saturday afternoon, resumed yesterday morning.

It is understood the apprentice joiner was visiting the area with two of his friends on a fishing trip in Loch Awe.

The Police Scotland Dive and Marine Unit and members of the Mountain Rescue Team continued to make a search in the "top end" of Loch Awe, around the islands and Kilchurn Castle.

A police command unit has been set up on Innishail island.

Eyewitnesses said the two men, who were rescued from an island after the incident on Saturday, returned to the lochside yesterday to show the investigation team where the boat capsized.

In a statement, the family of Mr Cowan said: "Kieran always sees the good in a bad situation. He has a heart of gold and loves life.

"He lights up the room with his infectious smile and his motto is: It is what it is."

Officers from Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, the Scottish Ambulance Service and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency attended Loch Awe after the boat with three men on board capsized around 4.40pm on Saturday.

Two of the men, aged 23 and 27, were able to swim to nearby island.

After raising the alarm, they were rescued and taken by ambulance to Lorn and Islands Hospital in Oban and later discharged. A police statement said: "Police Scotland can confirm that the missing man is Kieran Cowan from the East Lothian area. His relatives are aware. The Police Scotland Dive and Marine Unit and members of the Mountain Rescue Team are currently carrying out a search of the area to find Kieran.

"A joint Police Scotland and Marine Accident Investigation Branch enquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing."

"Kieran always sees the good in a bad situation, he lights up a room"
