Sea freaks me out, says A Place in the Sun Laura.

Byline: AARON TINNEY

SHE'S well known for showing sunseekers homes with stunning sea views - but A Place In The Sun host Laura Hamilton is actually afraid of the water.

The 39-year-old suffers from thalassophobia, which leaves sufferers petrified of what could lurk beneath large bodies of deep, dark water.

When asked to name her biggest fear, she said: "The sea. It's the unknown that I don't like because you can't see what's down there or what's going to come up.

"When the sea is too dark, it really freaks me out. I only like it when it's clear and you can see what's in the water."

Her admission came as she revealed yesterday on Instagram that she "freaked out" when her doctor told her she had an "abnormal" smear test result while she was filming in Spain.

She added that "further tests showed I am fine", before urging women not to miss their smears if they are called as it "could save your life".

Kent-born Laura has kids Rocco, seven, and Tahlia, five, with her insurance broker husband of nine years Alex Goward.
