Subtitled Working with Clay, Wire, Wax, Plaster and Found Objects, Judith Peck, who teaches at Ramapo College of New Jersey, has designed this book for students who have access to studio facilities and for out-of-school students who will be creating sculpture in their homes. In addition to introducing students to esthetic concepts of sculptural form and exposing students to tools that require a minimum of technology, this book also offers guidelines in the selected media designed to facilitate personal artistic directions. This is accomplished by outlining a is-week sculpture program based on approximately 10 hours of studio work per week. A series of projects in the various media are presented with a description of processes, projected outcomes and suggested time allocations. While the proposed curriculum is directed at the beginning college level student, it could easily be modified for high school students.
