Scout earns rank of Eagle.
In the fall of 2000, Michael entered Scouting with Cub Scout Pack 158 sponsored by St. Mary Parish in Shrewsbury. Pack 62, sponsored by the Ray Stone Post, was founded in 2001 to accommodate the exponential growth of Pack 158 and Michael was one of the original Scouts who moved to the new Pack. In 2005, Michael earned his Arrow of Light from Pack 62 and joined Troop 158, where he held the positions of den chief and assistant senior patrol leader. He is registered as a College Scouter Reserve. In 2007, Michael was elected by members of his Troop to Scouting's Honor Society, the Order of the Arrow.
For his Eagle Project, Michael planned and organized the dismantling and rebuilding of the decaying practice tennis wall at Dean Park. It took Michael, his family, friends and fellow Scouts more than 200 volunteer hours to tear down, rebuild and paint the 12-by-32-foot wall.
A 2012 graduate of Shrewsbury High School, Michael was a celebrated member of the Cross-Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track teams as well as the SHS Education Television Studio. He is a freshman at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, where he continues to run competitively.
