TELECOMWORLDWIRE-21 March 2007-Scotts Miracle-Gro deploys Cisco's WAAS solution(C)1994-2007 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Wide Area Application Services (WAAS) solution from Cisco (Nasdaq:CSCO), a networking solutions provider, have been deployed by the Scotts Miracle-Gro Company (NYSE:SMG), a marketer of branded consumer lawn and garden products.

Scotts Miracle-Gro deployed the solutions to accelerate the performance of business critical applications in order to increase branch office worker productivity.

Scotts Miracle-Gro began a data centre consolidation project with Affiliated Computer Services Inc (NYSE:ACS), a data centre hosting and business-process outsourcing services provider. It aimed to reduce operating costs and gain increased control over the data generated across over 500 of its remote offices and 58 Smith & Hawken retail stores.

Scotts Miracle-Gro introduced multiple application, file and print services into a number of centralised data centres, helping to lower support costs for branch offices and remove application latency and excessive delays in printing.

The company said the WAAS solution reduced the time taken to back up files from its remote offices to the data centre from 60 to six seconds and confirmed its intention to deploy further WAAS solutions in branch offices by this summer.
