Scottrade and McAfee Partner; First to Offer Free Security Software to Customers.

Scottrade Becomes the First Financial Services Firm to Offer Comprehensive Security as a Free Service

ST. LOUIS & SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Scottrade, Inc., a leading online brokerage company, announced today that it has partnered with McAfee, Inc., the leading security technology company, to provide McAfee's flagship all-in-one firewall, anti-virus, anti-phishing and anti-spyware software to its 1.6 million customers at no charge. This innovative, proactive approach to Internet security is significant because Scottrade is the first financial services firm to extend security protection to all of its customers as a free service.

"Our customers are concerned about spyware, phishing, and other online security threats. The threat landscape is changing and it is vitally important that Internet users adequately protect themselves against these threats," said Rodger Riney, president and CEO of Scottrade. "McAfee has been a trusted advisor, keeping Scottrade's systems protected against both new and emerging security risks. Partnering with McAfee allows us to provide our customers with McAfee's expertise in security software with the latest updates at no charge."

With millions of Americans completely unprotected or under-protected when it comes to security, consumers have become vulnerable to new sophisticated Internet threats that are driven by financial incentives. By mitigating these threats, which may include phishing scams and spyware, the McAfee([R]) solution provides Scottrade's customers with peace of mind, enabling safe and secure online trading transactions.

"We are very excited about the industry leadership and innovation that Scottrade demonstrates by solving significant security challenges for its customers, who are often the most exposed and the least protected," said Todd Gebhart, SVP of Consumer and Mobile business, McAfee. "Scottrade recognizes that a proactive, holistic approach to security requires end-to-end protection that extends from the company's network all the way to users' PCs."

"Continually enhancing Scottrade's own security systems is a big part of the battle, but we believe a dual approach is most effective in protecting our customers," said Grant Bourzikas, Scottrade's Director of Information Security and Business Continuity. "Sensible precautions taken by our customers through this partnership with McAfee provides a very safe online environment. We are making a significant investment in security - both with our new, state-of-the-art data center and by offering McAfee's latest solutions for our customers' PCs."

Scottrade is offering McAfee VirusScan([R]) Plus, which retails for $39.99, free of charge. McAfee VirusScan Plus features integrated anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall technologies that work together to combat today's sophisticated, multi-pronged attacks.

McAfee VirusScan Plus also includes SiteAdvisor[TM] which tests and rates, on an ongoing basis, nearly every trafficked site on the Internet for a wide variety of Web safety issues including spyware, adware, exploits, excessive pop-ups, spam, and phishing scams. McAfee SiteAdvisor uses these results to provide consumers with advance warning of dangerous or risky Web sites by showing intuitive red, yellow, or green site ratings next to search results or while browsing. McAfee SiteAdvisor has won several awards, including being named one of PC World Magazine's Top 20 Products of the Year.

Other technologies include McAfee SystemGuards[TM] which watch a consumer's computer for specific behaviors that may signal virus, spyware, or hacker activity and McAfee X-Ray for Windows([R]) which detects and kills rootkits and other malicious applications that hide from Windows and other anti-virus programs. Built-in computer health and performance tools keeps consumers' PCs running at peak performance.

Through the partnership with McAfee, Scottrade customers will be able to receive the McAfee security software and ongoing protection updates at no charge for one year. The software will be available this summer to all Scottrade customers regardless of the size of their accounts or the number of times they trade. Once customers are logged in to their secure Scottrade accounts, they will visit Scottrade's Security Center and download the free McAfee security software as well as gain access to interactive educational materials about online security which may include articles, demos, quizzes, tips, podcasts, blogs and videos.
