Scotskids fightitout TONETGB Euroslots; update.

SCOTS basketball starlets Fraser Malcolm and Findlay Wood have been named in Great Britain's initial 22-man squad for this summer's European Under-20 Championships in Greece.

Malcolm, who plays at Black Hills State University in South Dakota, and Wood, of the University of Essex, will fight for a spot in Andreas Kapoulas's final line-up during a training camp in Colchester and five warm-up friendlies.

? Glasgow's Emirates Arena is to stage next season's BBL Trophy Final on Sunday, March 19.

ATHLETICS: Olympic-bound Callum and Derek Hawkins and Tsegai Tewelde, along with fellow Scot Susan Partridge, have been named in a 12-strong GB team for the half-marathon at the European Championships in Amsterdam.

ICE HOCKEY: Player-coach Michal Dobron is backing his new signing, Canadian forward Taylor MacDougall, to star for Edinburgh Capitals this season.

Dobron said: "Taylor's going to be an important part of my line-up. He'll bring a winning mentality and will dominate physically." SPEEDWAY: Former Edinburgh Monarchs skipper Theo Pijper has been drafted in to replace fellow former Monarch Steve Worrall in the Newcastle Diamonds side for tonight's Premier League clash at Armadale.

Monarchs boss Alex Harkess said: "The visit of the Diamonds is always a highlight and we will need to be at our best."

HOCKEY: Inverleith have been handed a tough draw for the indoor European Club Champions Trophy in Croatia.

The Edinburgh side will face Rotweiss Wettingen (Switzerland), Atletico Clube (Portugal) and Slagelse (Denmark) in the pool competition.

Women's champions Dundee Wanderers are also in action against host club Gintra Strekte (Lithuania), Lille MHC (France) and Partille (Sweden) in their group stages.
