Scots cuppa load of million gallons of tea.

SCOTS sip their way through more than three cups of tea a day - almost a million gallons in total, says a study.

Almost a quarter - 22 per cent - drink five or more cups a day and three per cent more than 10.

In all, Britons get through 166million cups of tea every day, with Scots consuming 13 million.

At 3.2 cups per day compared to a national average of 3.5, Scots get through 870,000 gallons daily, with the national total at 11million.

The survey by the Women's Royal Voluntary Service said nearly half of Scots always use the same mug or cup and like their tea strong.
