Scots are most regular buyers of books in the UK.
M2 BEST BOOKS-(C)2000-2002 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTDA research poll for Waterstone's bookstore has shown that people in Scotland buy more books per month than anywhere else in the United Kingdom.
The poll revealed that a third of Scots buy at least one book per month - with the Highlands and Islands regions containing the most regular buyers.
Waterstone's also found that 50% of Scots choose books by Scottish authors rather than those of a different nationality making them the most patriotic readers. Scots voted Ian Rankin as their favourite author.
