Schoolkids inspired by Olympic Games.

OLYMPIC fever has started early in Birmingham even though the London 2012 games are still more than a year away.

Pupils at Holyhead School in Milestone Lane, Handsworth, have adopted the Olympic ideal as part of a two-year project leading up to the huge sporting event next summer.

Holyhead has teamed up with several partner schools across the Midlands to help stage a French languages project called "Famille d'amiti Internacionale" (International Family of Friendship). And the Birmingham school played by hosting a French Drama Day based on Olympic ideals of friendship, courage, respect, motivation, inspiration, equality and excellence.

Holyhead School French teacher Lorna Diprose said: "The International Family of Friendship project embraces the ideals of the Olympic Games through cultural and social media and promises to be really exciting as it progresses."
