School puts shirt on results.

THESE schoolchildren are jumping for joy with their SATs results.

The Year 6 pupils of Overfields Primary School, in Middlesbrough, notched 100% in reading, writing and maths in their SATs this year.

The top of the class mark for the Ormesby school was for Level 4. The school, on Daisy Lane, also achieved 100% in the Department for Education two levels progress in the same three subjects.

This means that 100% of pupils moved up two levels from their attainment level in Year 2 to Year 6. Headteacher Tracy Watson said: "I'm delighted by the SATs results.

"It's a real accolade for the hard work of staff across the school and especially David Hodgson in Year 6. "That's why we got the T-shirts. It's been a bit of a running joke that I mention we got 100% in our SATs at every opportunity so we decided to get T-shirts printed off with "100% - what a result" on the front and "Overfields Primary School" on the back.

"We handed them out at the end of the Year 6 leavers' assembly when a lot of the parents were in tears.

"It's something they can keep as a reminder of how hard they have worked as a group and their individual success too and it is a nice keepsake for the children."

Overfields Primary School's last SATs results were 90% for reading, 95% for maths and 80% for writing.
