Scholastic Coach.
Dear Coaches and Athletic Directors:Welcome to the 75th Anniversary edition of Scholastic Coach & Athletic Director.
This October issue has been a labor of love for everyone at Coach & AD. We wanted to create a keepsake that not only celebrates an amazing milestone, but also serves as a tribute to our readers.
The editorial package highlights a retrospective of what has made Coach & AD the #1 coaching magazine in the world. From the archives we've created Coach Classic, articles by coaching luminaries such as George Halas, Adolph Rupp, Al Davis, Bill Walsh, Dick Vermeil, and Jeff Van Gundy, most written long before they became legends.
This month's Person-to-Person interview features our revered Hall of Fame Editor-in-chief, Herman L. Masin, who, for an unbelievable 70 years, has proven that the typewriter (and two mighty fingers) is mightier than the sword. His impeccable editing skill and eloquent words have graced these pages since the first presidential term of Franklin D. Roosevelt.
At age 93, Herman hasn't lost any zip on his editorial fastball.
Publisher Bruce Weber, who came to the magazine in 1965 as Herman's assistant, adds his memories, including Coach's role in clinics and All-America teams, and a special look at the coveted Gatorade Player of the Year award, now in its 22nd year.
You'll also find some of the classic covers from among 750 issues; a complete and chronological list of every Person-to-Person subject, starting with the then-rookie Notre Dame head coach Gerry Faust in 1981; reprints of the original advertisements from some loyal advertisers; a montage of congratulatory letters and emails from a host of coaching greats; and even a "best of" Coaches' Corner humor page.

We hope you enjoy the issue from cover to cover. Let's do it again 75 years from now!
