Schlumberger branches out.

N. Schlumberger, Fort Mill, SC, has expanded its range of machinery for the nonwovens industry with two recent agreements. In one instance, the Schlumberger Nonwovens group has added the Laroche line of fiber opening, metering and blending equipment to its machinery range. Laroche, Cours, France, manufactures a machinery line that includes heavy duty bale opening systems with computerized recipe controls and a new, two-stage vertical fine opener intended for intense fiber-to-fiber opening from sub to medium denier fibers. This particular opener can handle the longer staple lengths increasingly being used in durable nonwovens.

In a related move, Schlumberger announced it is also representing Mohr & Cadik Machinenfabrik, Ansbach, Germany. The two companies have entered into a joint marketing agreement that will reinforce both companies' grasp on the high-technology nonwovens market. As a result, the number of full scale complete demonstration and trial facilities at the disposal of Schlumberger and Mohr customers increases to six.
